On a chilly evening in 2003 my husband and I were on a date, headed to a Steven Curtis Chapman concert. We had no idea how that date would change our destiny forever.
If I could use one word to describe our adoption experiences, our lives, it is “surrender.” God has been so kind in building our family, but it was a long road of surrendering what we knew was good for what God had planned—our best.
Anthony and I met in the winter of 2010 at a game night. We didn’t really hit it off in the beginning. Fortunately, Anthony was stubborn in pursuing me, and through many emails and phone calls I got to know this really special man.
For Chris and Andie Monteleone, the decision to adopt was an easy one. From childhood, Andie always wanted to adopt. In fact, she had an image of a little Asian girl in her mind from her earliest memory. She grew up dreaming of adopting all her children.
Jeff and Jill Mitchell met in a small hometown diner in 2006. We married 3 years later and today we have an 8-year-old daughter, Eliza, a 2-year-old son, Gabriel, and are in the process of adopting a sweet child from Haiti. We feel very thankful.
